French Connection | Charis Crochet Dress*

Today's post is fashion related. I don't post many outfit posts but I'm hoping to change that.
I was lucky enough to be sent this gorgeous Charis Crochet Dress* from French Connection. I actually received this dress back in the Summer but have only just got round to blogging about it. It has been designed with Summer in mind but I actually really like how it looks paired with jeans for the colder months.
What They Say - "French Connection cotton dress is a superfine knit for summer. The relaxed shape will work well against stacked platform wedges. Charis Crochet Dress has a scoop neck, rolled sleeves, crochet pattern at the front and a rope tie-waist belt".
The lovely Charis Crochet Dress* is made out of cotton and it's so soft. It's light weight and feels very comfortable to wear. It has a cream cami top sewed in so it isn't see through which I really like. It also has  rolled sleeves, a crochet pattern on the front and a rope tie-waist belt. I've taken the waist belt off as I wasn't too keen on it. I'm really liking the rolled sleeves trend at the moment and think they look really cute on the dress.
I've rolled up the bottom of the dress and slightly tucked it into my jeans, to give it the baggy/slouchy look. I'm really impressed with this dress and can see myself wearing it a lot in the Winter.

The Charis Crochet Dress* can be purchased for £97 but it's currently in the sale for £29.50.

*Update - I have just checked and sadly this dress is currently sold out online.*

Urban Decay | All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

What They Say | "Is makeup meltdown ruining your midnight mojo? Mist on this weightless spray to give your makeup serious staying power. All Nighter keeps your makeup looking gorgeously just-applied for up to 16 hours - without melting, cracking, fading or settling into fine lines. Developed in an exclusive partnership with SKINDIN VIA, our groundbreaking, clinically tested formula is suitable for all skin types and features patented Temperature Control Technology. Yep, this baby actually lowers the temperature of your makeup to keep foundation, eyeshadow, blush and concealer in place ¦ even in hot and humid or cold and windy conditions. The result? Smoother-looking skin and vibrant makeup that lasts all day (or all night). The spray delivers a microfine mist that goes on so light, you'll hardly feel it - and once you've applied it, you won't even know it's there."
What I Say | I am always on the hunt for that one product that will help my makeup last longer and keep it looking fresh throughout the day/night. I've tried a few makeup sprays - these include MAC Fix+ and the MUA Pro-Base Fixing Spray, which have both been lovely products but I still felt there could be a better product out there, and I think I have found it!
After reading about this product on a few blogs, seeing it on YouTube and hearing nothing but great things about it, I decided to purchase it. I'm talking about Urban Decays All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray.
I was really excited to try it out, so for it's first test I tried it when I went out for drinks in the evening. I thought this was the perfect time to try it, as inside the pubs and clubs it can get very hot and stuffy. I applied my makeup like normal and then spritzed this over my face. I used the 'X' and 'T' formation they suggest on the packaging. The spray is ultra fine and felt very light on my skin. At first it feels a little bit tacky but as soon as it dries, the stickiness has gone.
When I returned home a good 5 hours or so later, my makeup looked the same as when I had left. (The only thing was that my mascara had flaked under my eyes but I have later discovered that it was the mascara I was using).
My next test was to use this product during the day to see how well it would cope. I did the same thing, applied my makeup like normal and spritzed it the same way but this time I was out for around 8 hours. At the end of the day, my makeup was still looking fresh. I am very impressed with this product, it's like a miracle in a bottle!
I don't use this spray everyday but definitely for those days or nights where I feel I need my makeup to stay put!
I would also just like to add, I feel that the staying power of all products of this kind depend on what type/brand/amount of makeup you are wearing and the type of skin you may have. But I would definitely suggest you try it out for yourself, if you feel you need your makeup to last that little bit longer!

ELF | Runway Pink Lipstick

This is my first review from my huge collection of ELF goodies I purchased when they had their 50% sale. (If you're interested in what else I purchased, you can click here).
So to start off I'm going to review one of their Mineral lipsticks. They had about 18 different shades to choose from, so it was a bit overwhelming on which shade I was going to choose. I googled for some swatches to try and get a true colour and in the end I chose two different shades. (The second lipstick review to follow soon). The first one I picked is in the shade Runway Pink.
What They Say - "Now you can hydrate your lips and get a lasting soft colour naturally! This nourishing blend of exotic oils, natural waxes, vitamins and plant extracts create the perfect moisturising formula. The sleek lipstick has superior colour payoff, glides easily onto lips, and is long wearing. Lips stay perfectly hydrated and soft throughout the day for no fuss, lip loving happiness. All our mineral makeup is 100% mineral based with no parabens, no preservatives and no chemical dyes".
I would described Runway Pink as a nude pink. It's a shade which I would say is 'your lip colour but better' if that makes any sense?
The texture of the lipstick feels very smooth during application but I have found they are quite drying and only last on the lips for about an hour at the most. I don't mind this too much, as it's a reasonably cheap lipstick where you can afford to re-apply but I'm not too keen on the dryness. I make sure I apply a creamy lip balm before application to help moisturise my lips. I personally think it's a colour that would suit any skin tone.
All in all I think this is a great lipstick if you're just starting out in makeup or just want a lip product where you can throw it in your handbag and not worry about using a mirror for the application of it.

ELF Mineral lipsticks retail at £5 each.

Have you tried ELF's Mineral lipsticks?

Review | Origins Modern Friction

What They Say | "Sand-blasting skin with coarse, chemical crystals? How painfully passe. Here's age-smoothing exfoliation without irritation. Skin-refining Rice Starch cushioned in cream, rapidly removes sluggish cells, uneven patches and signs of skin damage and discolourations. Lemon Oil kick starts the process of illumination. Vitamin C mops up skin-menacing free radicals.
There's no ouch, extra steps or other complications. No redness or flaking follows. Signs of lines and size of pores appear to shrink. With Origins Modern Friction™, skin looks perfectly polished, smooth and luminous."

What I Say | This is a sample size product I received with a previous order. It's a 15ml tube, which is the perfect size to try before you buy. I'm always a bit wary trying new skin products so these little samples are perfect for me!
I squeeze a small amount onto my fingers and gently massage it all over my face. I then rinse it off with warm water and I'm left with lovely smooth, clean feeling skin. You can apply this to dry skin but I prefer dampening my face first as I feel it applies better.
Modern Friction is a microdermabrasion exfoliator that's very thick and creamy in texture. It contains rice starch to refine the skin and lemon oil to brightenIt contains tiny beads for exfoliating and gives just enough scrub without being too harsh on the skin but at the same time it definitely feels like it's working at getting rid of all the dirt and grime. I use this once, sometimes twice a week and I have noticed a difference in my skin. It is quite pricey but as you only need a small amount at one time, I think you can justify it.
I would say this product is suitable for all skin types as it's quite gentle and isn't drying.
If you're a blonde like me, be very careful when using it around your eye area. I know it says it on the majority of face products but this product burns like crazy if you get it near or around your eyes! Don't say I didn't warn you ;).
Oh and this is also one of Origins best sellers!
Price | £33 125ml

Rating | 8/10

October Favourites

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray | This product has been on my wishlist for a while now and I'm so glad I finally bought it (hence why it has made its way into my faves). I don't use this product everyday, only on the days where I know I'm going to have a long day and want my makeup to last. I also use it on nights out and I have certainly noticed a difference. My makeup definitely lasts and still looks as good as when I left the house. Full review to come soon.

Garnier Moisture Match Day Cream | This lil beauty is for dry to very dry skin and has made it's way into my new skincare routine. Already it has worked wonders on my skin, leaving it feeling very moisturised and plumped. It's perfect for this time of year where your skin needs that extra something to keep it looking fresh in this cold weather. I have posted my full review on it here along with other products in the Garnier range.

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette | I recently bought this palette off a blog sale. It had hardly been touched and was such a bargain! I have used it everyday since and the colours are gorgeous. The only thing is now I also want the original Naked palette and the Naked 3 palette to add to my collection.

Taylor Swift Wonderstuck Perfume | I've never tried Taylor Swifts perfumes before but on my recent shopping trip, I picked it up as it was on offer. It smells very fruity with a hint of vanilla, my kind of perfume!.

MAC Plumful Lipstick | I have been wearing this lipstick non stop since I got it using the 'back to mac' program. It's such a lovely plummy colour and looks really nice on the lips. If you would like to find out more about this lipstick or the 'back to mac' program click here.

MAC Peachtwist Blush | I have recently rediscovered this blush in my makeup drawers. It's such a nice shade for this time of year. It's described as bronzy peach which I would definitely agree with. Peachtwist is a shade I don't hear much about in the blogging world which is a shame as I think it's such a lovely shade and would look lovely on any skin tone.

Garnier Skincare For Dry Skin

I've never been one to care too much for skincare but a couple of months ago I had a major breakout and thought it was about time I 'created' a skincare routine. Whilst browsing the skincare isles in Boots, I noticed these lovely looking products. I hadn't heard about these before but I have tried a sample of the moisturiser whilst I was on holiday and I was very impressed. I would say I don't exactly have dry skin, more on the combination side, but as the weather is getting colder my skin is definitely getting dryer.
I picked up the Comforting Cleansing Lotion, Comforting Toner and the Moisture Match Day Cream.
Oh and I also liked that my skin type was in the pink bottles. They look very cute on my dressing table ;).

Comforting Cleansing Lotion - £2.99 | I use this lotion twice a day, before I apply my makeup and after I have removed my makeup. I find it gets rid of any dirt and grime on my skin and also, especially after I've taken my makeup off, it get's rid of any excess makeup I may have missed. I apply some to a cotton wool pad and wipe it over my skin. It's enriched with Rose extract, smells lovely and leaves my skin feeling very soft.

Comforting Toner - £2.99 | After I have cleansed my face with the lotion, I then go ahead and use the toner. Just like the lotion, I apply it twice a day using a cotton wool pad. This is also enriched with Rose extract and smells exactly the same as the lotion. My skin is left feeling very fresh and clean after I have used this.

Moisture Match Day Cream - £5.99 | I use this day cream before I apply my makeup, after I have cleansed and toned. This is such a nice moisturiser and leaves my skin feeling moisturised and ready for makeup. The texture is quick thick, so you don't need to apply much at all. It soaks into the skin with ease and doesn't leave a greasy residue.

Overall I am really impressed with this range and I can honestly say that I have noticed an improvement in my skin. These items are now staple products in my skincare routine.
Garnier have a range of skincare products for people with different skin types. Check out which products would suit you best here or if you're still unsure, you can take the test here.
The Garnier essentials range is currently on offer in Boots for 2 for £4.

MAC Plumful Lipstick

Hands up if you like freebies? *Raises hand*
When I went shopping in Norwich a couple of Saturday's ago, I took a little trip to MAC to receive my free lipstick using the 'Back to MAC' program. If your unsure of the back to MAC program, you take six empty packaging containers to a MAC counter and then your allowed to choose a lipstick of your choice for free.
This was the first time I had used this system and it was the easiest thing ever. I wandered over to the lipsticks and wasn't too sure of what shade to go for. I wanted an Autumnal lipstick, if that makes sense. The MUA came over to see if I wanted some help and I did. She picked out a few shades for me and let me try them on. In the end I decided on Plumful. MAC describe it as a "blossoming rose-plum' and I would totally agree. Plumful is a lusture finish, which I love. Lustures are very glossy, hydrating and apply very smoothly on the lips. This lipstick gives a gorgeous hint of berry-ness to your lips which is perfect for this time of year. I can definitely see this lipstick as my go to shade for this season.

You can purchase MAC Plumful here for £15.

Review | Origins Checks And Balances Frothy Face Wash

What They Say | "When it comes to faces with dry and oily places, it takes a clever cleanser to balance the two. This Origins gentle, frothy face wash carefully does both jobs without cancelling each other out. It helps to seek out oil, soaks it up then keeps it well in-check, while it balances and protects dry prone zones. And Broadleaf Kelp breaks down dirt, disperses excess oil and sends dullness down the drain. Skin feels comfortably refreshed after cleansing, never tight, pulled or parched".
What I Say | This is a sample size product I received with a previous order and I'm so pleased I did. It's a 30ml tube, which is very generous for a sample. I have used it everyday since I received it and I still have over half left.
It's a milky white consistency which smells very fresh and minty. I wet my face and squeeze a small amount onto my fingers. You only need about a 5p coin size and it will cover your whole face. I gently begin to massage it into my skin and wow, it feels amazing. It's so soft and lathers really nicely. I have never used a face wash like it. When I have finished massaging it in, I rinse it off with warm water and I'm left with squeaky clean skin, literally. My skin feels super clean afterwards but a tad dry but I always apply moisturiser after I have washed my face, so that doesn't bother me.
I would say if you had dry skin, you might want to give this a miss but I think this would work great on oily/combination skin.
I seriously love this face wash and will definitely be purchasing the full sized version!
Price | £8 50ml - £18 150ml

Rating | 10/10
